Hints and tips for great Autumn shots~Autumn is a great time for photography with the fabulous colourful trees and when the sun shines lower angled sunlight for more interesting textures.

A few tips for great autumn shots are:

When shooting autumn leaves, shoot with the leaves between you and the sun for beautiful backlit results. Be careful not to look directly in to the sun and make sure your lens is perfectly clean and has a lens hood attached to avoid flare spoiling the result.

Its worthwhile taking shots from several different angles as just by standing by a tree trunk and then taking pictures as you turn around the tree a whole range of different images can be captured.

Don't forget to look down, as fallen leaves ofen make great patterns against green grass and should you be out and about in the early morning and there is a frost they make great close up subjects too.

At this time of the year Squirrels are at their most active and brave - so it’s a great chance to get close-up shots of them.

Fungi are also plentiful and again these are best photographed early in the morning. Try crouching down as low as possible and use a wide-angle lens to show the subject in its environment.

A tripod is a great advantage with the falling light levels that Autumn brings, if you are hand-holding the camera then try and get a high shutter speed by selecting a wide aperture - you are far more likely to get a sharp shot at 1/500th F4 than 1/125th at F8!

Try using a long lens to really isolate the subject aginst a blurred background and a Macro lens is invaluable for shots at this time of year.
